Research columns

With atopy and immunity, one question always follows: "what is that claim based on?"
Here we set out what ATOVIA writes from, and what it does not.

Columns are split by physical, mind and life — by topic. This page runs on a different axis: it gathers the sourcesthose columns stand on. Sources carry different weight, so ATOVIA marks them in the four tiers below.

Tier 1 · Clinical guidelines

Society clinical guidelines

Guidelines agreed by bodies such as the Korean Dermatological Association and the Korean Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Clinical Immunology. These carry the most weight. When a column covers treatment or medication, we cite only from here.

Tier 2 · Systematic reviews

Meta-analyses and Cochrane reviews

Results verified across many studies. Steadier than any single study. We use these when talking about the size of an effect.

Tier 3 · Individual studies

Clinical trials and observational studies

A single study. It shows a direction, not a conclusion. When we cite one, we give the number of participants and the duration alongside it.

Reference · Experience

Member accounts

Recovery records built up in the community. cases, not evidence. They hint at what you might try, but we do not use them as proof of effect.

Sources cited in the columns are gathered below, by topic.
Still being organised — we fill it in as the columns grow.

What ATOVIA does not use. We do not treat material produced by product sellers, blogs and videos without stated sources, or one person's categorical claims as evidence. Atopy runs differently in different people, so the more categorical a statement, the more care it needs.
Nothing on this page is a medical diagnosis or a prescription. Make treatment decisions together with the doctor treating you.
